It Pays to Prep is a publication we update yearly designed to help families easily find merit-based scholarships. Up until today, we have only done this for Tennessee colleges. At last, we have now compiled a guide for out-of-state merit scholarships at America's top colleges. We have included a link to download the pdf, and we have included the document in its entirety on this web page. (You can find the comprehensive list of Tennessee scholarships here.)

Though most schools in America have gone test-optional, almost every admissions officer we have spoken with has told us that if a student sends in ACT scores and has the ACT score and GPA that was previously required, they will almost certainly be awarded the scholarship. Students not sending in ACT scores will compete with a much larger pool of students.

To utilize It Pays to Prep in its simplest form, look down the left-hand column to find the ACT score and GPA necessary to obtain certain scholarships. The columns to the right will indicate the amount the student will receive per year and over four years if they receive that scholarship. Most of these scholarships are guaranteed scholarships. So, if the student meets the requirements, they will receive that scholarship as long as they get everything turned in on time to that school.
